Pool renovation and waterproofing in Benidorm

Benidorm is the city of high-rise around two bays. A large share of the pools here are communal and do not sit in the ground at all, but on a concrete deck above a car park, storage rooms or plant rooms.

That makes waterproofing such a pool a different story from a villa. If it loses water, the water does not soak away into the ground, it turns up in the space below. On top of that a deck is constantly working under changing loads and temperature swings, and that is exactly what cracks a rigid finish.

Polyurea forms one flexible, seamless skin over the shell and the copings. The layer moves with the structure, and because it cures quickly the pool only has to be out of use briefly.

On the blocks along Levante and Poniente there are solariums and flat roofs in use all year round. They catch sun from both sides and salt air on the sea breeze, and on the Rincón de Loix side there is the wind coming off the Serra Gelada as well.

On roofs like these the problem is rarely in the middle of the field. It starts at the upstands, the pipe penetrations and the drains. A polyurea layer runs seamlessly over all of them instead of stopping at a joint or a membrane overlap.
